2D9 Guns and Dolls
The text is an extract from a novel entitled Funny You Don’t Look Like a Grandmother. It is about a grandmother whose nickname is Goo-Goo. She bought a gift for her granddaughter Debbie: a Barbie doll. Debbie’s mother went berserk. Goo-Goo had told her she was a girl very early, and it ruined her life. She reproaches Goo-Goo with not being politically correct.
Then, Goo-Goo gave her grandson a Minnie-Mouse doll. But her son went bananas. When he was a child, his mother had let him play with her jewelry, and it traumatized him. He reproaches Goo-Goo with being politically correct.
Whatever she does, she is wrong. Her children did not have a son and a daughter, they had persons.
Political correctness is considered a good thing for girls, but a bad thing for boys. This way of fighting against discrimination relies on… discriminating boys and girls!
